Top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah powered into the doubles quarter-finals on Monday at the US Open, scoring the lone break in each set to defeat No. 13 seeds Robin Haase/Wesley Koolhof 6-4, 6-4. This year’s Wimbledon champions will face Luke Bambridge/Ben McLachlan in the next round.
Jack Sock found himself across the net from the man he won last year’s US Open doubles crown with. Teaming with Jackson Withrow, they toppled No. 7 seeds Bob Bryan/Mike Bryan 6-4, 7-5. The victory puts the 25-year-old Withrow into his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Sock/Withrow will take on No. 15 seeds Jamie Murray/Neal Skupski for a place in the last four.
Oliver Marach/Jurgen Melzer, the No. 16 seeds, enjoyed a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win over #NextGenATP duo Miomir Kecmanovic/Casper Ruud. Melzer prevailed here in 2011 with Philipp Petzschner (d. Fyrstenberg/Matkowski). Next up for Marach/Melzer are eighth seeds Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos.
