From ATP to NFL: Sock Tackled By 'Line-backer' Ball Kid In London

Jack Sock may have a future on the West End.

After the most minor of collisions with ballgirl Jessica Matthews during Saturday's doubles semi-final, Sock comically tumbled to the ground in one of finest acting performances ever seen in the history of the Nitto ATP Finals.

He fooled no-one in the crowd, who enjoyed the gag, and was quickly helped back to his feet by partner Mike Bryan.

As the first game came to an end, Matthews chased after a loose ball and attempted to return to the corner of the court. But Matthews ran straight into Sock, who unknowingly walked directly into her path.

"I didn't know one of our ball kids was a line-backer for the Kansas City Chiefs," said Sock. "I was just being dramatic, it was playful and fun."

After Sock apologised to Matthews for his part in the incident, an equally apologetic Matthews summed up the unexpected experience with the reigning Wimbledon and US Open doubles champion.

"I was just very shocked at the time," she said.
