All of the attention at the Citi Open on Thursday was on the first FedEx ATP Head2Head meeting between brothers Alexander Zverev and Mischa Zverev. But while everyone saw younger brother Alexander triumph, people might not have known that they were not done for the day just yet.
The Germans went back on court shortly thereafter, as partners, and completed their first-round doubles match, upsetting top seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic, who became the first team to guarantee their spot at the Nitto ATP Finals last week, 6-1, 6-4.

“It was our first time beating those guys… I think it was a great doubles match that we had, starting yesterday and finishing off today,” Mischa said. “Overall, it was a great day.”
The brothers will next face the top-ranked player in the ATP Doubles Rankings, Mike Bryan, and his partner, Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The Zverev brothers have enjoyed success as a pair before, triumphing at last year’s Open Sud de France in Montpellier.
