Klizan Stuns Djokovic To Reach Third Round

Slovakia’s Martin Klizan produced a big upset to beat Novak Djokovic 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell on Wednesday.

Klizan and Djokovic split one-sided sets before the World No. 140 dropped just five points on serve in the decider to upset the sixth seed in one hour and 39 minutes. Djokovic was hoping to build on the encouraging form he had shown at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, but suffered his second loss at the event in as many matches after a first-round loss on his debut in 2006 (l. to Gimeno-Traver).

Klizan will meet Feliciano Lopez for a place in the quarter-finals after the Spaniard beat Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic in three sets on Tuesday.
