Haase Advances In Paris; Two Americans Fall Early

Two Americans — Steve Johnson and Ryan Harrison — made early exits on Monday at the Rolex Paris Masters.

Dutchman Robin Haase recorded his first victory at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament since 2013 when he swept past Johnson 6-2, 6-1 in 51 minutes. He will next face fourth-seeded German Alexander Zverev, a winner of two Masters 1000 titles this year at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia and the Western & Southern Open.

German lucky loser Peter Gojowczyk defeated Harrison 7-6(5), 6-3 in 85 minutes for a second-round test against fourth seed Dominic Thiem of Austria.

#NextGenATP South Korean Hyeon Chung will challenge top seed Rafael Nadal, who is one match win away from clinching year-end No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, after he cruised past Mischa Zverev of Germany 6-0, 6-2 in 57 minutes.
