Live: Kyrgios vs. Federer

Roger Federer has taken a 6-4 lead over Nick Kyrgios in their third-round encounter at the US Open on Saturday.

The five-time champion, bidding to lift his first title since 2008 in Flushing Meadows, recovered from 3-3 (0-40) down, saving four break points, before securing a crucial break of serve in the 10th game.

Federer and Kyrgios are meeting for the fourth time in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series, which Federer leads 2-1. Each of their three previous encounters have been decided in final-set tie-breaks, with eight of their past nine sets requiring a tie-break.

Interestingly, in their three previous clashes, the loser of the first set has gone on to win the match on two occasions. John Millman awaits the winner in the Round of 16. The Brisbane native beat Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to reach a Grand Slam fourth round for the first time.
