#NextGenATP Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz booked his spot in the main draw at the Western & Southern Open on Sunday as he cruised past Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 6-3, 6-4 in the final qualifying round.
The 18-year-old is making his debut in Cincinnati and has enjoyed a breakthrough season, rising from outside the Top 100 in the FedEx ATP Rankings to a career-high No. 54 this year. Alcaraz, who won his first tour-level title in Umag in July, broke Ivashka four times to advance in one hour and 26 minutes.
