Rojer/Tecau Unseat Defending US Open Champions Cabal/Farah

Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau scored the biggest upset so far in the doubles draw to reach the US Open doubles quarter-finals on Saturday. The 2017 champions rallied to defeat top seeds and defending champions Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Awaiting them in the next round are Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov, who also rallied from a set down to take out sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Shapovalov is the only active player remaining in both the singles and doubles draws.

"I feel good. It's pretty nice to play doubles. It gets my blood going and my legs moving again," Shapovalov said. "Obviously it's normal to have wear and tear after four-set matches and five-set matches, but I'm pretty young and I haven't been playing a lot in the past couple of months, so it's not too bad at all."

Mate Pavic and Bruno Soares continued the comeback trend in their 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-4 victory against Jack Sock and Jackson Withrow. Sock/Withrow served for the match at 5-4 in the second set. Pavic/Soares will next face Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski after the British pair eased past Marcelo Demoliner and Matwe Middelkoop 6-3, 6-2.
