Sousa Beats Bautista Agut In Gstaad; Andujar Ends Lajovic's Streak

Pablo Andujar ended the seven-match winning streak of Dusan Lajovic on Friday for a place in the J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad semi-finals. Seventh seed and 2014 champion Andujar, who won the first three games of the match, beat third seed Lajovic 7-6(4), 6-4 in two hours and six minutes. Last week, Lajovic lifted his first ATP Tour trophy at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag (d. Balazs).

“There were difficult moments physically and I was lucky with the break points in the first set,” said Andujar. “I am very happy to be in the semi-finals. I am happy to have so many good memories here and the people are great. I don’t have much power as some players, so the altitude helps me.”

He’ll now face fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who recorded his 20th match win of the season over countryman and sixth seed Roberto Carballes Baena 6-2, 6-1 in 76 minutes. Ramos-Vinolas, who won seven straight games from 2-2 in the first set to 3-0 in the second set, also beat Carballes Baena 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in last week’s Swedish Open quarter-finals.
